What WebP is
WebP is Google's image format for websites. It makes web pages load faster, which is why so many sites use it. The catch: some apps, printers and older devices still cannot open WebP files.
Which format should you pick?
- JPG is the safest choice when a file has to open on any device, slide into a document, or go to a printer.
- PNG keeps transparency. If the WebP image has transparent parts, JPG fills them with white. See WebP to PNG.
