What GIF is

GIF is the short-loop format the web has used for decades — memes, reactions and simple animations. It only holds 256 colours, which is fine for small graphics but not great for photos.

Which format should you pick?

  • JPG gives you a small still image that opens everywhere — good for sharing a frame or using the picture in a document.
  • PNG keeps transparency and exact pixels — better if the GIF is a logo or graphic you plan to edit. See GIF to PNG.

How to convert GIF to JPG

  1. Add your GIF images: drag them onto the page, browse for them, or copy and paste.
  2. Press "Convert to JPG".
  3. Download the JPG images to your device.

No. JPG is a still image, so you get the first frame of the animation. If you need the movement, keep the original GIF.

GIF only uses 256 colours, and the JPG keeps those same colours. Converting cannot add colours back, so the picture looks the same as the GIF's first frame.

Yes. A still GIF converts like any other image.

Up to 20 files at once, and up to 15 MB per file.

Nothing is uploaded: the conversion runs in your web browser, so your files stay on your device. You don't need an account, so there is nothing to sign in to or clear afterwards.
